History

[1] Music City Youth in the Arts, the parent organization for the corps, was created in July 2008. Over several hundred individuals expressed interest in the corps through a website, and the board of directors then chose to field a corps for the 2009 season. To establish a stable beginning for the Corps, it was decided by the board of directors that practice and travel would be limited. The first-year corps consisted of 47 members and performed well and surprised spectators.

The 2010 corps was made of almost 70 members and had a repertoire that allowed the group to take a journey down the Mississippi River from St. Louis to New Orleans. For the 2011 season, Music City is planning on fielding a full 150-member corps.
